Privacy

The essentials

  • We don't use tracking cookies or sell data to anyone. There are no user accounts or passwords on this site.
  • You never need to give your real name to use anything on this site, including the chat.

The assistant / chat

  • The guided options (the buttons) send nothing to any external server: the response comes from a fixed list on our own server.
  • If you type a question in the free-text field and the site has AI mode enabled, that message is sent to the AI provider (Anthropic/Claude) solely to generate a reply. We do not save those messages to any file or database after responding.
  • Never type passport numbers, Medicare numbers, or visa numbers into the chat.

Sharing your story

  • If you submit your story, it's stored in a private queue reviewed only by this project's team, not a public system.
  • Nothing is ever published without us separately confirming your explicit consent.
  • The email field on that form is optional and exists only so we can ask you for that consent. Leave it blank and your story is never published: we would have no way to contact you to ask. We don't use it for anything else, don't add it to any mailing list, and don't share it with anyone.
  • If your story isn't published, it's automatically deleted from that queue after 90 days, along with the email if you left one.

Usage statistics

  • If this site has statistics enabled, we only count aggregate daily totals (e.g. "the resources page was viewed 40 times on Tuesday"). We do not store your IP address, do not identify individual visits, and there is no cookie involved.

The "Exit" button

  • The "Exit" button at the top, next to the notice, immediately takes you to Google and replaces the current page in your browser history, so the Back button won't return to this site.
  • It's a help, not a total guarantee: it doesn't erase earlier visits from your history and won't protect you if monitoring software is already installed on your device. If you're worried about your safety, consider using a different device or your browser's private/incognito window.

"My journey"

  • If you use the assistant, generate a letter, or visit the mental health page, we keep a small record of those steps - but only in your own browser (localStorage), never on a server.
  • You can see that record on My journey and clear it whenever you want. If you clear your browser data, or use a different device, that record won't exist there.

Encouragement messages by email

  • This is the one exception on the site to "everything stays in your browser": to send you an email, we need to store your email address on our server, along with the frequency you chose (daily or weekly).
  • That email is used only to send you those messages. It's never shared, sold, or combined with any other information on the site.
  • You can unsubscribe any time from the link included in every email, no need to ask us or explain why.
